Nasdaq 100 and the 100-day moving average

Stocks & ETFs

The same trend rule for technology stocks, with a faster average: in the Nasdaq 100 above the line, out of it below.

The rule

Compare the Nasdaq 100 with its average price of the last 100 days. Above: hold the index. Below: move to safe short-term bonds.

Why people use it

Tech stocks rise harder and fall harder than the broad market, so stepping aside in a downtrend matters more. A 100-day average reacts faster than the classic 200-day one.

Where it hurts

Faster also means more false signals: more round trips in a choppy market, each costing a little. Sharp one-week drops are over before the average reacts.

How our bot runs it
