TQQQ with a 200-day moving average filter

Stocks & ETFs

A triple-leveraged Nasdaq fund, held only while the Nasdaq itself is in an uptrend. High reward, very high risk.

The rule

Watch the plain Nasdaq 100, not the leveraged fund. While it is above its 200-day average, hold the 3x fund. When it drops below, sell everything.

Why people use it

A 3x fund multiplies daily moves by three, so in a steady uptrend it grows very fast. The trend filter tries to keep you out during bear markets, where such a fund can lose almost everything.

Where it hurts

The filter reacts late: by the time the index crosses its average, the 3x fund may already be down by a third or more. In choppy markets leveraged funds lose value even when the index ends flat. A loss of more than half the account is realistic.

How our bot runs it

The signal is QQQ against its 200-day simple average; the position is TQQQ. Below the average the bot holds BIL. It is the riskiest of the stock bots and is marked so.
